 Works

The different spaces contain Art by our collaborating artists. If you stop by one of our spaces, you may find some of the following pieces.

Trichromia in water sheet

Collaboration between two local artists, Amalia Costa and Alba Muros.

Conceptualized to be installed on the first floor of Casa Maruja, the three paintings represent the deconstruction of the view of the sea from the existing windows using the 3 primary colours.

Experimentation and colour.

Maruxiña

Maruxiña is a doll from ALIVAVÁ. Each one is unique and has a long life behind it.

This begins in a plastic factory where they are born as fishermen's buoys that are used to mark nets or pots in the sea or floats for other fishing gear.

After years in boats, warehouses and above all in the ocean, some of them end up on a beach, a creek or between rocks on the shore.

Unfortunately, it joins up with large amounts of plastics and rubbish that already contaminates all the coasts of the planet.

ALIVAVÁ reuses parts of this waste to put in front of everyone's eyes, what some know and many do not want to see: If we pollute the sea we are poisoning ourselves and causing other consequences that are already well present such as climate change, diseases, loss of biodiversity...

Thus, with creativity and affection, what was previously part of the problem is transformed.

The world in Yellow

Created by Alba Muros under the theme of climate change and its repercussions on our health.

Art and Activism share that they make evident what is not. The meaning of the colour yellow in the work connotes a warning of danger, but it also has other meanings such as light, optimism and joy, looking for a positive and proactive attitude.

The poor management of natural resources leads to a great loss of biodiversity on our planet, which makes it easy for many diseases to pass easily from the smallest organisms to human beings.

As a technique he used engraving on linoleum and manual printing because of its ease of being reproduced by anyone, transferring that possibility of taking the message beyond the painting itself.

It was exhibited in Madrid at MUMUAR Fest 2022 and as part of the collective exhibition on Women, Environment and Biodiversity 'Water, Woods, Women's l00' 2022.

It is currently installed in the ITA Artistic Workshop.

‘Muros in Yellow: The Sea’

First action in a series that aims to highlight elements that are overlooked or forgotten, and that need to be attended to. To make that warning, the colour yellow is used because of its connotations, not only as a sign of danger but also because of its bright and optimistic tone.

Action on the temporary facade of A Maceta, where the boats used to run aground, with direct access from the seafront to the porch.

One of the most well-known consequences of Climate Change, sea level rise, is sought to be made evident. What is no longer so well known is that this rise in sea level is produced, not only by the melting of the poles, but by a warming of sea water that is also having disastrous consequences for marine ecosystems that are not able to adapt to those new temperatures.
